Glossy Box - January 2013

Helloo

Firstly id just like to quickly apologise for the lack of posts recently, ive been poorly poorly and just couldn't face a computer screen or have enough of a brain to actually string a sentence together... never mind a whole blog post! But im on the mend, antibiotics are doing what there meant too, and my heads in a much much better place. Then id also like too apologise that this post is a little behind... but better late than never right?

So on with the actual post, January's Glossy Box!
January's theme is Detox... after all the indulging over Christmas and New Year.
I was really chuffed to bits with the little extra night mask as its really cute but a little disappointed that this months box is all samples and no full size products, apart from the lip balm which is a gram out!?

Sooooo then, the first product was the JASON Lips Bee Healthier lip balm.
Sample size recieved - 4.5g
Full Size and Price - 4.6g - £1.99
This smells fab, its minty, but like a chocolate mint... mmm like after eights! Yum.
It has beeswax in to trap in moisture and Aloe Vera Gel to heal and soothe.
Ive been using this quite a bit as id just finished a Nivea lip balm, and while ive been unwell i have had reeaally dry lips, and i have to say it is really really good. Its goes on easily and my lips feel soft right away, its lasts quite well too as it doesn't really have a taste so i dont eat it straight off! and you can reapply as often as you need. Would be great just to have one in my bag and maybe one in my desk at work especially in these cold winter months.

Second product then was the Elemis Fresh Skin, Skin Glow Exfoliating Face Wash.
Sample size received - 30ml
Full size and price - 100ml - £12
This says its developed to use through your teens to mid twenties to nurture skin and help prevent premature ageing.
I am quite picky with exfoliating washes, as i dont like the really big beads in lots of washes, i much prefer the really fine sandy gritty washes that tend to be sort of clay based? This has the bigger jojoba beads in it, however it smells gorgeous and it really does leave your skin super super soft, it has cherry powder and mandarin in, say no more mmmmmmm. Also has aniseed to soften, but that's surprisingly not overpowering, i cant even smell it in there.
I currently use an Avon Professional face scrub as i suffer with breakouts and its really good at combating and preventing spots but sometimes it can dry my skin out especially now its getting colder. So maybe alternating with a wash like this one thats only to be used 1-2 times a week would be a good idea. I know £12 is rather expensive but if your not using it daily then i suppose it will last a while. Plus im 23 this year and if prevents premature ageing it can  happily come my way.

Oooooo this next product is my fave i think! Duck Island Limited Body Lotion.
Sample size - 30ml
Full size and price - 2x 25ml - £24.95
This Body Lotion is absolutely gorgeous! Its Mandarin and Bergamot and smells amazing. You could eat it its smells that good. Also leaves your skin soft and silky, as soon as this touches your skin its starts to melt and soak in, its lovely. The only downside with this product is the availability of it. In the GlossyBox leaflet it says 2x 25ml bottles for £24.95, so i went on their website to have a little investigate as i really really want the full size of this. It looks like companies or hotels buy it in bulk. Then it says companies can offer a box set that they can retail to guests... which is the 2x 25ml luxury gift set.
When i googled it (good old google)  the only results were the Duck Island website id already checked, or people that had bought it/packed it up from spas and hotels are selling it on ebay. So i might email them and ask, as their isnt anywhere for 'guests' to purchase direct from them?.

Next then is Premae Skincare Balance Rescue Face Tonique.
Sample size - 30ml
Full size and price - Riiiiiiighty bit of a naughty in the GlossyBox Leaflet!
Glossy Leaflet says full size and price is 50ml - £27.50
Premae website says that the actual full size and price is 100ml - £17.50
This im not really overly fussed about. Firstly the smell is really reeaally not for me... lemongrass, sandlewood, rose water... nopie nopie. Its something that even if the product was totally amazing, i still couldn't get used too and use anyway.
Its for combination skin, mattifies skin. Antiseptic lemongrass and sandlewood cuts through oil and dirt without stripping the skins natural oils.
The fact that its antiseptic is something that normally id go for, but the smell of this would really put me off buying it. I have had a go with this despite the smell and as far as mattifying i didnt notice any difference. So i personally would just use other products that do the same thing and smell nicer and cost less.

Last product then is Monu Aromatic Mask - excuse the poor photo but the writing is so so pale no matter how i tried i couldnt get it to show on camera.
Sample size - 30ml
Full size and price - 100ml - £24.95
This is a warming mask for normal or combination skin with natural clay, beeswax, coconut oil, lavender and rosemary. Not too fussed about the smell of this one either, its not unpleasent, its sort of warm and herby and old? I cant describe scents very well!! I have used this mask, and the smell didnt make me think right id never buy this, BUT i dont think that i would buy the full size.
Its lovely, it goes on well and does not irritate. But when taking it off i felt like id missed bits as my skin was quite waxy afterwards, but i guess it did feel and look soft... also it wasnt very warming at all if im honest. Again i currently use a mask from the Avon proffesional range, and that really is warming, its also exfoliating, washes off super easy, has a bit more of a pleasant smell and is half the price...

Id love to know if anyone had any of the same products and what they thought?
Toodles x
